ABOUT SOPHIA

Sophia is a national organisation, who has been supporting people as
they emerge from homelessness since *.

Sophia is a niche service provider for two reasons; Firstly, it sees
the provision of home of one’s own as the primary response to
homelessness and the intervention that Sophia is exclusively focused
on. Secondly as an Approved Housing Body, its core mission is to
provide homes for individuals, couples and families who not only need
a home but also present with other support needs.

Sophia recognises that homelessness can have a traumatic impact on
people and that services need to be designed and delivered in a trauma
informed way.

HOURS * hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 9am
to 5pm

JOB PURPOSE

To work as a member of a team providing support to families, couples
and single persons who are living in Sophia Cork Street.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* To commit to the objectives and ethos of Sophia
* To work as a member of the Support Team under the supervision of
the Project Manager.
* To perform as a full team member supporting colleagues,
participating in effective handovers and be open to reasonable
requests from Project Manager in order to ensure effective working
relationships
* To work in a holistic way with family members and single persons
as appropriate to meet the housing management and personal needs.
* To provide assistance to project workers in managing their
caseloads.
* To provide practical support for the families and single persons
to ensure that the day to day running of the home is maintained (e.g.
routines in the home, upkeep of the home personal hygiene and food
preparation.)
* To ensure Sophia’s confidentially policy is maintained at all
times.
* Work alone in service user’s homes and on the projects as
required.
* Be a visible presence around the project.
* Respond to child protection concerns in line with the Children’s
First Policy.
* Handle conflict resolution as required.
* Be a contact for Emergency services when necessary.
* To plan, facilitate and evaluate group-work.
* To co-ordinate, alongside project workers, the arrival and
admission of new service users.
* To take part in training as required for the role.
* To liaise with external agencies on behalf of service users as
required under the guidance of project manager.
* To maintain appropriate records of the work with tenants and the
work of the project.
* To attend and participate in weekly team meetings.
* Oversee the day to day organisation of maintenance issues and
follow ups.
* To ensure that necessary fire, health and safety policies and
procedures are adhered to.
* To adhere to procedures in place for responding to emergencies
within the Projects.
* To promote high standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness
throughout the service.
* Take part in property checks
* Respond to and record maintenance requests.
* To undertake other work that may be assigned to you from time to
time.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* A minimum qualification of Level 5 HCA QQI Care Skills
* One year’s experience working with this client group
* Knowledge around child protection issues, mental health issues and
addiction
* The ability to work on own initiative
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and
written
* The ability to handle security issues and to respond to
emergencies
* Proficient IT Skills and knowledge with a database
* To have excellent report writing and record keeping skills
